Ingredients in Shampoo For Men

Sodium Laureth Sulfate

SLES or sodium laureth sulfate (SLS), commonly abbreviated as SLES, is the key cleansing agent in this shampoo, helping it create rich foam. SLES is found naturally in coconut and also produced synthetically; both versions can be widely found in cleaning and personal care products.

Soap, body washes, shower gels, facial cleansers and shampoos are just some of the products containing glycol ether. With its ability to dissolve oils effectively, glycol ether has also proven popular in industrial cleaning products.

SLS and SLES sulfates have been extensively researched for use in cosmetic products, and at normal concentrations have been determined safe for both skin and hair health. At higher concentrations however, they may cause irritation to sensitive skin.

Glycol Distearate

Glycol distearate (or glycol disstearate) is an ester of ethylene glycol and stearic acid, an essential fatty acid, with properties as a white to cream-colored waxy solid that serves as a dispersing agent, emulsion stabilizer, opacifier and skin conditioner in cosmetic products such as bath gels. It provides stability of dispersion as well as pearlescent effects in bath gels for enhanced bath time experiences.

Surfactant formulations often rely on pigmented surfactant additives as an opaquer and thickener, without negatively impacting lather production. Carmine can help create thick, creamy or creamy-textured products by thickening and dispersing.

Cosmetic Ingredient Review has evaluated this ingredient and determined it safe for cosmetic use, with a low hazard score and abundant data availability. You’ll likely find this component in body washes, cleanser and shampoo products available both from DIY ingredient suppliers or online vendors.

Sodium Cocoyl Isethionate

Sodium Cocoyl Isethionate is one of the gentlest surfactants, making for rich lather without dry or stripping your skin. Furthermore, its emulsifying, emollient, and conditioning properties make it a fantastic addition to shampoo or body wash formulations.

Coconut-derived sulfates make for an excellent sulfate alternative, and are the basis of our homemade shampoo bars, conditioner bars and syndet bar recipes. Safe enough for everyday use and available at concentrations up to 50% for rinse off products and 17% for leave on, they make great additions for our handmade bar products!

Microorganisms easily break it down, thus lessening its environmental impact. Furthermore, this product is vegan-friendly, cruelty-free, and noncomedogenic – perfect for everyday use!

Fragrance

Fragrance is the signature scent of perfumes and can differ depending on their ingredients, from natural oils to synthetic formulations created in laboratories. Perfumes typically consist of three structural parts: top, middle and base notes.

A top note is the initial impression a person receives when they smell perfume, comprised of molecules with short lifespan that evaporate rapidly and dissipate quickly from your nose. Popular examples are citrus, berries and herbs as top notes.

Middle notes make up the heart of any fragrance and typically last from two to four hours after application. Composed of more complex, fragrant molecules than top notes, middle notes often include floral, spicy, woody aromas. Jasmine petals, nutmeg and lavender are some of the more frequently occurring middle notes.
